The agrivoltaic installation will cover 23 hectares of grassland near rue André Hernandez and Route du Duffort. Elevated photovoltaic panels will protect pastures from solar radiation and extreme weather while allowing continued livestock operations (cattle and sheep) underneath. Hedgerows will be planted for environmental protection.
The agrivoltaic installation is estimated to produce 19.8 megawatts peak annually while reducing CO2 emissions by approximately 936 tonnes per year. The project will generate estimated annual tax revenue of 71,200 euros to be shared between the municipality and department.
DVP Solar plans to submit construction permits soon for the agrivoltaic installation. Urban planning authorization may take up to two years before construction begins in 2029. Additional time will be required for Enedis to build the electrical line to Laguian-Mazous to connect the installation to the national grid.
DVP Solar company presented an agrivoltaic project to the municipal council of Trie-sur-Baïse. The project involves hybrid solar panels integrated with agricultural land use. Project leaders Sébastien Aceti and Thomas Bringuier presented the initiative alongside three farmer partners (Maxime Bruzaud, Mathieu Darré, and Maxime Dupuy) and local elected officials.
Three farmers partnering in the project will receive rental payments from DVP Solar for use of their land. The farmers will continue operating cattle and sheep operations on protected grassland beneath the elevated solar panels.
