Loana Petrucciani, the first winner of the French reality television show "Loft Story" in 2001, was discovered dead in her apartment in Nice, Alpes-Maritimes on March 25, 2026. She was 48 years old. Firefighters entered the apartment through a window after a concerned neighbor alerted authorities, noting that Loana had not been seen for several days. The apartment door was locked from the inside. Her dog, named Titi, was also found dead at the scene.
Loana Petrucciani became famous as the winner of "Loft Story," the first reality television show in France, which aired in April 2001. At age 21, she lived with other unknowns for six weeks under camera surveillance on the M6 television network. Her blonde appearance, pool activities, and perceived vulnerability resonated with audiences, leading to her selection as the show's winner.
Autopsy results released on March 30, 2026 ruled out any involvement by a third party in Loana's death. The medical examination identified a wound to the back of the skull and bruising in the lumbar region, initially suggesting a possible fall. However, no fracture, signs of violent impact, strangulation, or other evidence of external attack were found. The cause of death was determined to require further toxicological analysis.
Six months after her death, toxicological analysis completed by October 6, 2026 determined that Loana died from multiple combined factors. The medico-legal summary concluded her death resulted from a combination of chronic substance abuse (alcohol and narcotics), acute toxic concentration of sedative medications, and metabolic failure due to severely precarious pre-existing health conditions. The analysis ruled out the initial hypothesis of a simple accidental fall.
