The GameChat application received updates including the ability to view previously joined chats, start new chats without inviting friends, change screen size during chats, and access a new settings option on the HOME Menu to manage which consoles can use virtual game cards.
The firmware update allows music to be played while creating or editing a Mii, including nostalgic tracks from Wii, 3DS, and Wii U Mii creation. Users can change or stop the music using settings in the top corner of the screen.
The audio settings in System Settings were updated to allow users to save audio settings separately for each connected TV, enabling different audio configurations for different displays.
Play activity tracking on the user profile page now combines play time for the same software across multiple Nintendo Switch 2 consoles, displaying combined times in order starting with software played after the update.
The firmware update adds a new handheld boost mode toggle accessible through quick settings, giving users easy access to this performance feature. Additionally, users can now connect other controllers during handheld mode boost while Joy-Con controllers are attached to the console.
Firmware update 23.0.0 enables users to perform a full system transfer from one Nintendo Switch 2 console to another, allowing users to migrate their data and settings between devices.
Nintendo released firmware update 23.0.0 for the Switch 2 that adds variable refresh rate (VRR) support when the console is docked in TV mode. VRR adjusts the display's refresh rate to match the game's frame rate, reducing screen tearing and smoothing gameplay. The feature requires both the software and TV to support it, and Nintendo is using a whitelist system where only specifically optimized games will have VRR enabled. Initially, only the Switch 2 Welcome Tour is compatible with the feature.
System accessibility settings were updated to include Portuguese (Brazil) as an available text-to-speech language and for GameChat's Display Speech as Text feature.
