During his September 2026 trial, the 48-year-old defendant contested the allegations of assault against the three young children but acknowledged having sexual attraction to children over 10 years old. He claimed a divine calling had guided him to work with children at age 14.
The tribunal correctionnel de La Roche-sur-Yon imposed a permanent prohibition on the convicted former instructor from engaging in any activities involving contact with minors, as part of the sentencing for sexual assault crimes against three young children.
A 48-year-old former afterschool instructor was sentenced on October 5, 2026 by the criminal court of La Roche-sur-Yon to five years in prison, with three years suspended, for sexual assault against three children aged 3 and 4 years old. The court also imposed a permanent ban on working with minors and ordered six years of judicial monitoring. The incidents occurred in Vendée between 2022 and 2023, with families filing complaints in June 2023 after children disclosed inappropriate touching.
Following the conviction in Vendée, similar cases of sexual assault involving afterschool instructors were reported in other areas of the Pays de la Loire region. In Angers, a 26-year-old instructor was placed under investigation for sexual assault against a 4-year-old child at two locations. In Saint-Sébastien-sur-Loire, two men were suspended during summer 2026 for similar offenses.
